With Lucas Neill unlikely to feature again for Watford, his Hornets career could amount to a total of just six minutes. But how does he compare to other players in the club’s history?

The defender has this afternoon joined Doncaster Rovers on loan until April 22 - just over a month after he signed for Watford.

However, his brief appearance for the Hornets is not the shortest in the club’s history, with Andrei Stepanov playing for only five minutes in 2009 during Brendan Rodgers’ reign .

Below is a list of all the players who took to the pitch for Watford who featured for less than one half of a football match:

5 minutes A.Stepanov

6 minutes L.E Neill

7 minutes E.J.Godfrey

7 minutes T.O.James

8 minutes F.W.Forde

8 minutes J.Pearce

10 minutes R.S.Kiernan

11 minutes F.J.A.Cassidy

14 minutes G.Donnellan

15 minutes C.S.Seanla

17 minutes J.G.Watt

18 Minutes A.E.Ferrell

19 minutes C.G.Powell

20 minutes K.W.C.Brooks

23 minutes S.M.L.Brooker

27 minutes C.R.Simpson

28 minutes E.A.M.O.A.Oshodi

32 minutes E.J.Denton

33 minutes K.E.Forbes

33 minutes J.P.Furie

36 minutes D.V.Irvin

37 minutes R.L.Svarc

37 minutes R.G.Flash

41 minutes C.R.P.Davenport

Given the number of centre halves on our bench in recent weeks it's difficult to understand why Mr Nani felt the need to waste the money on Neill.

What a load of old cack!! What less than a brain cell bought this guy in? Hope he gives any money earned and the time of coaching staff to charity. Probably not. Some idiot at WFC should well ashamed of himself.

I thought Lucas ws fantastic and the way he controlled the ball and controlled his area was up there with Puyol, Vidic, Stam. I will pay to see the Ozzy grace the famous WFC pitch again. Do you think he wil get a testimonial?

"14 minutes G.Donnellan" - was he the Irish guy that GT brought on as a sub and he fell over taking a throw-in? The other names I do not know. All credit to the archivists that has such stats.

That was Albert McClenaghan. Played after 4th division title was already won.

Thanks" all good"! It was such a long time ago but how funny it was. Memory fades when you get into your dotage! I have just been given a Watford vs Palace programme from Div. III match when Pat Jennings was in goal for us. Long before my time but there is an advert for 20 Cadets gigs priced as 2\10 (that is two shilling and 10 pennies) that must equate now to something like 17p?

Nonsense. He looked a great signing on loan from Blackburn.. a real experienced goalscorer. Badly injured on his debut for wfc and his career was over in the blink of an eye. Played against Darlington or Bournemouth in the 1st or 2nd game I ever saw, 10 games or so into GT's first season.

Where do you get greedy from? He wanted to play football and get a crack at the World Cup. He was willing to take poor pay to get this opportunity. He has now agreed to go on loan to get another chance. Fair play to the guy

Was it Dave Woodfield, a record £30,000 signing.
