Old Merchant Taylors' Ladies were promoted in their first season to Middlesex Hockey League Two after a 4-0 win over West Hampstead Fifths.

The newly formed OMT Duchesses made a fast start to their match and were rewarded within a couple of minutes with an early goal by Nina Haydon-Guppy on the rebound.

The game became an end to end battle and when OMT won a short corner Chris Matthes slotted the ball into the net to double the lead.

West Hampstead struck back but some neat foot and pad work by OMT's keeper Suzanne Emily prevented them closing the gap.

OMT's third goal came from Michelle Coupar after a superb run from the middle of the pitch. The club's top scorer this season dribbled around a number of Hampstead players before finding the net.

The second half proved to be tougher than the first and despite a number of good strikes and handful of short corners OMT's couldn't get the ball across the line. But the victors added a fourth late on when Haydon-Guppy scored her second of the match.

With this victory and promotion next season, OMT Ladies will be looking to expand and enter a second team in the 2014/15 season. If anyone aged 13 and older is interested in joining them visit the http://www.omthockey.co.uk/ website for further details.
