CHILDREN’S charity, the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), invited more than 100 women for an afternoon of tea, cakes and shopping.

The get together for the second annual vintage afternoon tea was held at the Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford on March 18.

And the event raised nearly £6,000 for the charity, which is based at Millington, near Altrincham.

It  began with a glass of fizz and some shopping. The drinks reception was sponsored by Bright & Beautiful in Altrincham.

The women browsed stalls which included jewellery and handbags.

CAFT’s Julie Gray hosted the event and introduced vocalist Andy Ellison who entertained the guests throughout their tea with some smooth swing tunes.

Peter Murray from Pulse of Perfumery in Knutsford gave an entertaining talk and Oliver Dunn of Olichocparties gave a demonstration of truffle making. He also auctioned his services off, raising £150.

A grand raffle was drawn by charity patron Suzan Holder. Prizes included four tickets to see Gary Barlow live, an overnight stay in London, several prizes from Mere Court and a perfume hamper worth £200 from Pulse of Perfumery. Elizabeth George Cakes of Hale donated a cupcake for each guest. Clarins at House of Fraser in Altrincham also provided goodie bags as well as prizes.

Julie Gray said: “Everyone worked so hard to make the day run smoothly, and we’re so grateful to all of our fantastic volunteers who gave their time so freely and to our guests for their fabulous support.”

The charity relies totally on donations and support in order to raise the £1million it needs to continue its work. For further information about the Adventure Farm call the fundraising office on 01565 830 053 or visit www.caft.co.uk.
