ALLANSON Street Primary School pupils ran a mile around the school grounds last Friday to raise money for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile charity.
Four to 11-year-olds took part in the run, a class at a time, after being put through their warm-up paces by Saints’ stars Tommy Makinson and Lance Ohaia.
The school’s PE leader Rachel Hawkins said: “The run is an excellent way to bring staff, students and the community together to get active, have fun and raise money for a great cause and help to change lives.
“Comic Relief spends the money raised to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in St Helens, the UK and throughout the world a helping hand to turn their lives around.
“Last year we raised £1,700, and we are hopeful that Friday’s event will raise even more.”
