A CAT charity is appealing for more Yorkshire residents to become cat foster carers to help with an unprecedented influx of unwanted pets and strays.

Yorkshire Cat Rescue has taken in more than 162 cats and kittens since the beginning of January.

This figure does not include the many unwanted and abandoned cats that were already being cared for by Yorkshire Cat Rescue staff and the charity is desperate for more fosterers to help ease the burden.

Centre manager Sam Davies said: “There is no need for potential foster carers to worry that they will find themselves out of their depth.

“We choose placements carefully and are always here to offer advice and support through our foster buddy system, no matter what time of day or night.”

Yorkshire Cat Rescue has its headquarters in Keighley and anybody who would like to volunteer to become a fosterer can contact the centre on 01535-647184.
