I WOULD advise the leaders in the West to err on the side of caution in dealing with the Russian occupation of the Crimean peninsular and the threat to Ukraine.

Please make sure that this ripple of aggression doesn’t develop into a tsunami.

I was brought up in the 1930s and I wouldn’t like to see history repeat itself.

It doesn’t take a genius to realise that the Second World War was the result of hereditary claims by one country over another.

The world stood still and did nothing until it was too late, while Germany just walked in and occupied these countries.

The trouble was, they never knew when to stop and such a situation should never be allowed to happen again.
