Watford achieved what was becoming a traditional victory over Arsenal, winning 3-0 in the first division at Vicarage Road.
Fixture congestion had seen the two sides face each other at Highbury the previous day, this game also won by the Hornets 2-0.
In the process, Malcolm Allen achieved the unlikely-to-be-matched feat of scoring on consecutive days in different calendar months against the same opposition.
