AUTISM AWARENESS: The River Tees will be lit up in blue tomorrow (WED) in support of World Autism Awareness Day.

Stockton Council will change the multi-coloured lighting along the Riverside so it glows blue, in support of the international Light It Up Blue campaign.

The river’s bridges and river bank will be lit up between the Princess of Wales Bridge and the Millennium Bridge.

REBRAND LAUNCH: Hundreds of people turned up to a launch event for a rebranded drug and alcohol service.

The celebration of newly rebranded Middlesbrough Recovering Together (MRT) took place at the Town Hall Crypt and included musical entertainment, food and drink and personal accounts of fighting addiction.

More than 90 representatives from organisations in and around the town attended workshops during the day to understand more about what MRT is and what service it can offer.

The event also saw the unveiling of the new MRT website, showcasing the new online referral system as part of a renewed effort to make it easier for the public to contact the service should they need to.

STOCKTON AGM: Stockton Council’s annual general meeting takes place at Billingham Forum tomorrow (WED) at 11am.

During the meeting the winners of the Mayor’s Civic Awards will be announced and Councillor Barbara Inman will be elected as the Mayor of Stockton for 2014/15. Councillor Ian Dalgarno will be appointed Deputy Mayor.

LIBRARY MOVE: Thornaby Library on Westbury Street closed yesterday and reopened in the Riverbank Children’s Centre on Gilmour Street.

The library will be open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 4.30pm and Friday 9am to 4pm, and will be closed for an hour each lunchtime.
