An evicted animal sanctuary owner who has spent four days barricaded in her former farmhouse tonight vowed: "I'm prepared to stand my ground".

Paula Campbell and one of her supporters have been inside Milkup Bank Farm, Willington, County Durham, since 1pm on Friday.

She claimed they are being denied delivery of provisions by security staff manning the site.

"They have cut us off completely," she said. "It's like a total lock down."

She was evicted in January after a long-running dispute with Redstone Mortgages Ltd which has said it acted after Ms Campbell fell into mortgage arrears.

Ms Campbell was allowed to return to the farm, where she ran Rainbow Arc Animal Sanctuary, to collect her belongings - but once inside she and two supporters barricade themselves inside.

One left on Sunday lunchtime due to health concerns.

Ms Campbell insisted she has not missed any mortgage payments and has offered to pay the mortgage in full.

Her daughter Jayne said she had tried to deliver food, water, medicine and a mobile phone to her mother but was denied by security staff.
