Luke O’Nien made his Wealdstone debut last night, just hours after playing the full 90 minutes for Sheffield United Under-21s.
The young midfielder was brought on in the final minutes of the Stones’ 2-0 win against Billericay Town but had earlier in the day played the whole match for the Blades in their 2-1 victory against Coventry City Under-21s.
The 19-year-old was introduced late on in the victory against Billericay by Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett and impressed with some clever movement.
Wealdstone are on course to win the Ryman Premier this season. They are 13 points ahead of second placed Dulwich Hamlet and have two games in hand over their closest rivals.
O’Nien, whose current deal with the Hornets expires in the summer, made his Watford debut as an 88th-minute substitute against Barnsley on March 15.
But we understand the Golden Boys have yet to make a final decision on whether to give O'Nien a second professional contract. Read more here.
