Beppe Sannino is looking for Almen Abdi to continue to build up his confidence and fitness over the remainder of this campaign so that he is “ready to start fresh next season”.

The midfielder made his second comeback of the season following his long-term foot injury in last week’s 4-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday and that continued yesterday when he replaced the injured Cristian Battocchio shortly before half-time in the draw against Burnley.

“Abdi needs minutes,” said the Hornets head coach. “Today he had 45 minutes, 50 minutes. It is good but he needs to come back step by step. He’s coming back from a long-term injury. What I’m expecting from him is he builds up his confidence, his fitness and ready to start fresh next season.”

Abdi is one of those players that only once in a while hits the headlines but is so influential and allows the glamour players (strikers in other words) to prosper. You could see yesterday that he was shear class. Just hope that we can keep him for next season.

He looked knackered near the end but how good was it to see him back on the pitch? Let's just get him fit for next season, sign Tozser on a permanent deal and go for it next season.

I think Sannino is looking towards next season by giving Almen 50 minutes yesterday .
Murray would have probably have been better replacement if you were looking for a player to play the same role as Batochio.
Great to see Almen back, you forget how good his short passing and close control is.

Both abdi and cassetti played a few one touch passes into feet on sat, unremarkable at the time, but showed their class. I'm easily pleased.
