Listen to Leeds United manager Brian McDermott's thoughts following Watford defeat
Brian McDermott conceded Leeds United’s display at Vicarage Road in their 3-0 defeat last night was “not the sort of performance” new owner Massimo Cellino “would want to see”.
The Italian’s controversial and delayed takeover of the Elland Road club was finally completed yesterday and Cellino was at Vicarage Road to watch his new charges suffer an eighth defeat in their last nine games.
Asked if he felt the Leeds players had let him down, McDermott responded: “We don’t talk about people letting me down. I just feeling we’re letting each other down. The fans travelled all that way. The ownership is now resolved, it’s sorted so that’s not an issue. I spoke to him (Cellino) before the game. He’s an ambitious man, he wants to do and that’s not the sort of performance he would want to see.”
The Whites boss continued: “Everyone is playing for their future in my opinion. Of course I’m under pressure and results suggest that. But we’re all in a situation where it depends who want to be here next season because this guy’s got a lot of clout and I’m sure he’d have watched that tonight and been bitterly disappointed as well.
