Watford will make changes against Queens Park Rangers but injury permitting; Daniel Tozser will not be one of them. He is the only Hornet guaranteed a place in the starting XI. Beppe Sannino has said as much.

Tozser has played every minute since he joined the Hornets in January apart from when he missed the 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest – when you could argue his absence was recognisable.

The 28-year-old, who created two of the goals yesterday, had not played all season prior to his arrival at Vicarage Road and Sannino admitted the defensive midfielder may be tired when it comes to facing Queens Park Rangers less than 48 hours after the 3-1 win over Ipswich Town.

But Sannino is desperate for Tozser to play at Loftus Road. And the selection of the other two midfielders could be influenced by the former Genk captain’s fitness.

“It is my problem; to find out if he can play. If I put a player in who can run alongside him then we can hide the situation [Tozser’s tiredness],” Sannino said.

“He is the only player that I can’t change in this team because I don’t have any players who have the characteristics to play in the holding midfield position.

“I am perfectly aware he has played every time and might be tired but he is a player who must play.

“He is the only player who knows in advance that he will play.”

“He is important for my team because he gives us the right balance,” Sannino continued.

Tozser is on loan from Genoa and Watford are keen to sign the player permanently.

Sannino said it was too early to discuss potential summer signings during yesterday’s post-match press conference.

He also added it was too premature to discuss whether players who started against Ipswich would be fit for QPR.

But Sannino did confirm: “On Monday I will do some rotation in the squad because this game is still very important to us.”

Fernando Forestieri missed the Ipswich match with a toe injury and Ikechi Anya has been suffering with an Achilles contusion.

Head of medical Marco Cesarini, who also works as Sannino’s translator, said: “After the Millwall game he had pains in his foot so today was precautionary.

“We are still assessing him so we will see if he will be in the squad on Monday.”

Cesarini added: “It was too soon for Ikechi today. We have less than 48 hours [until the next game] so it is a possibility [he could play] but we will assess him and see then.”

Chu-Young Park is still out injured but Marco Cassetti is back from suspension.
