Having already finished second from bottom of the first division of the Southern League, Watford played Brighton & Hove Albion in a 'test match' at West Ham United to determine whether Brighton would replace Watford in the top division.
Having gone three goals behind, Watford pulled level only to lose the tie 5-3 and so relinquish their top-flight status.
