Matt Hamilton and THM Racing secured a tenth-place finish at Oulton Park in the first round of the Volkswagen Racing Cup on Monday, with both races red flagged.

Qualifying was disrupted by a throttle sensor issue leaving Hamilton with time for only two "flying" laps.

Despite that setback Hamilton qualified in fifth position.

With three hours between qualifying and the race, THM Racing were able to fix the throttle issue properly after a two minute pit stop in qualifying.

A serious crash behind Hamilton caused the race to be red flagged after less than two laps meaning the result was null and void.

Golf's Howard Fuller was most seriously injured and was airlifted to hospital.

The second race started at the earlier time of five o'clock with the original qualifying places standing.

Hamilton dropped to tenth after a strong start, but some excellent overtaking moved the THM driver move up to eighth only for another crash to see the race red flagged.

Unfortunately for THM and Hamilton, the positions of the cars on the previous lap are taken as the result, bumping Hamilton back down to tenth.
