Fencers from Watford Fencing Club and Three Rivers Young Blades claimed ten medals at the Hertfordshire Senior County Championships in Hatfield.

Watford and Three Rivers’ medal count was the highest of any Herts club in attendance and the day started with Alfaiya Hashmi and Jonathan White taking bronze in their Novice Foil events. There was also a third-place finish for Denise Silk in the Women’s Epee.

The next two medals of the day went to Jasmine Porter (gold) and Monika Szulakiewicz (silver) as they faced each other in the final of the Women’s Senior Foil. It was a close contest but Porter was able to win the championship 15-12 and she picked up the best-placed Under-20 medal.

Oliver Smith ended with bronze in the Men’s Foil after he was beaten 15-9 by Great Britain’s Acland Byrant.

Young Luca Valetti was also able to walk away with the best-placed Under-20 medal after securing fifth spot.
