A 1-0 defeat at the hands of Oxford United provided an ignominious curtain to the life of the Vicarage terrace, which was demolished over the subsequent summer to be replaced with an all-seater stand.
Fittingly, the iconic scoreboard above the terrace that was due for removal as part of the renovation broke down after the game.
The match was Steve Perryman's last in charge - as he left in the summer to team up with Osvaldo Ardiles at Tottenham Hotspur - and saw James Meara make his only senior start for the Hornets.
