Division One

Kings Langley suffered a seven-wicket loss at the hands of Ampthill Town.

Put into bat by Ampthill, Kings were bowled out for a total of just 102.

Duncan Fleming top-scored with 26, whilst Tom Sambrook made 25.

Chris Esh claimed six for 21 for Ampthill, who reached 103 with the loss of just three wickets.

Division Two

Met Police Bushey overcame Wheathampstead by seven wickets in a low-scoring match on Saturday.

Having lost the toss, the Met were pleasantly surprised when their opponents elected to bat first.

Wheathampstead were bowled out for 65, with Daniel Nightingale’s figures of five for 14 playing an integral part.

The Met reached their target of 66 with minimal fuss, losing just three wickets.

Abbots Langley suffered a 49-run loss to Watford Town.

Watford were limited to a total of 178 for eight on a slow pitch, with Matt Dunstone taking six for 64.

Chasing Watford’s total, Abbots were dismissed for 130, recovering from a start which had seen them 60 for four at one stage.

Nick Gurney chipped in with 30, but it was not enough for Abbots.

Leverstock Green won a keenly-contested clash at Preston by five runs.

Batting first, Green struggled, with only the returning Kyle Claxton (40) showing much resilience for the visitors.

Dismissed for 137, Levy just squeezed home by bowling the hosts out for 132.

A sizeable contribution of seven for 59 from Brad Klosterman and three superb catches from Marc Simmonds at slip aided Levy’s victory.

Adam Thomas also took three wickets.

Hemel Hempstead Seconds suffered an 81-run thrashing against Old Albanian.

Put into bat, hosts Old A’s were bowled out for 145.

Zahid Ali Khan top-scored with 29, with Christopher Dobson adding 26 as Bryan Davies took four for 51 for Hemel.

The visitors were skittled out for just 64 in response, Duncan Howard the top-scorer with an unbeaten 22.

Naseer Ahmed was Old Albanians’ leading bowler, taking five for 15.

Division Three

Northwood Town got their campaign off to a disappointing start, suffering an 82-run defeat at the hands of Sawbridgeworth Seconds.

Having won the toss, Town put Sawbridgeworth into bat and the decision paid dividends early on.

Sawbridgeworth were bowled out for 178, with skipper Steve Ashman picking up a patient 72 to help them on their way.

Mikhil Patel took four for 33 for Northwood and Sajid Malik two for nine.

An excellent 51 from opener Akshay Loomba wasn’t enough for Northwood, who could only muster a disappointing 96 in response.

Speaking afterwards, skipper Michael Lister said: “It seems we still haven’t found the recipe for recording opening day wins.

“Too few batsmen contributed today and a number of us struggled to adapt to the conditions. However, the bowling was very promising and the effort in the field was superb so we can look forward to next weekend’s game and we’ll aim to get a few more points on the board.”

Bushey Seconds recorded an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Reed Thirds.

Reed elected to bat first having won the toss, but were bowled out for a paltry 80.

Making light work of victory, Bushey scored 82 for the loss of just one wicket, Sagheer Ahmed top-scoring with an unbeaten 34.

Chanaka Gunawardena was unbeaten on 32.
