Division Eight

Northwood Town Seconds got off to the ideal start, beating Hatch End by 47 runs.

Having lost the toss, Town were put into bat and struggled early on, losing wickets without building the score.

The introduction of Prandip Pandey steadied the ship, first forging a handy partnership with Fozan Haji, scoring 25 in a stand of 37.

Pandey was similarly effective alongside captain Neil Cheesewright, adding another 28 in a partnership of 39.

Town eventually finished with 127.

Hatch End wickets began to fall at regular intervals and Town kept up the pressure to dismiss the visitors for 80.

Town skipper Cheesewright said afterwards: “The all-round effort, application and intensity levels today were superb, with every team member making a contribution.

“Even with runs hard to come by, the focus was always maintained and to post such a score on that deck was satisfying. Our bowlers stuck to their plans and showed great discipline, even after facing a late rally from the Hatch End tail.”

Langleybury Thirds beat Dunstable Thirds by two wickets, making hard work of the task after a strong start.

Dunstable were bowled out for 111, with Kevin Kelly taking four for 16.

Starting well, Langleybury put on an opening stand of 77 before the wickets began to tumble in alarming fashion.

The win was eventually secured with Dunstable reaching a total of 114 for eight.

Hemel Hempstead Fourths suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Hertford Fourths.

Electing to bat first, Hemel scored 171 for seven, with Dawood Iqbal unbeaten on 49.

Thompson was Hertford’s most effective bowler, taking three for 35.

Hertford made minimal fuss of securing the win, reaching their target of 172 for the loss of just two wickets.

David Spring was the hosts’ top-scorer with an unbeaten 72.

Ben Dumpleton took Hertford’s two wickets for 31 runs.

Division Nine

Abbots Langley Thirds beat Leverstock Green Thirds by 52 runs thanks to some excellent bowling.

Having lost the toss, Abbots were put into bat and were dimissed for 149 following some rash shot selections.

Ben Balmforth played an important role with 66 runs.

Brett Baney and Ash Ali took three wickets apiece for Levy.

In response, Leverstock were bowled out for just 97, with captain Gareth Tucker (24) the only Green batsmen to offer any resistance.

Bob Russell took four for 22 and Paresh Solanki three for 15.

Rickmansworth Thirds suffered a 40-run defeat at the hands of Cockfosters follwing a disappointing batting display.

Captain Matt Scales helped himself to three wickets for Ricky, with their opponents limited to 111 for seven.

Fragile Ricky batting meant the Park Road side could not build on their bowling display, managing 71.

Brendan Lindsay scored 24 and Jack Lee 15 for Ricky.

Kings Langley Fourths recorded a resounding seven-wicket victory over Luton Town and Indians Fifths.

Batting first, Luton were bowled out for just 95, with Gordon Sambidge taking five wickets.

Forty from Sifan Naeem and an unbeaten 17 from Sambidge saw Kings ease to victory.
