Division Five

Watford Town Seconds claimed a seven-wicket victory at Hatfield and Crusaders Seconds on Saturday.

Choosing to bat first, Hatfield soon regretted their decision up against some tight bowling from the visitors.

Rain disrupted play on more than one occasion, but the day belonged to Watford’s 15-year-old bowler Asad Sajjad.

The teenager shone with the ball, at one stage boasting hugely-impressive figures of six for six before finishing with six for just 15.

Hatfield were bowled out for 95 after 36 overs.

Watford had to work hard for their runs and lost three hasty wickets before defeating their opponents in 24 overs.

James Sharp led the way for Watford, whilst Sajjad impressed with the ball following his display at the crease, finishing with an unbeaten 48 as the visitors won with 96 for three.

In response, Kings reached 144 for eight to seal a draw.

Abbots Langley Seconds fell to a 48-run defeat against Luton Town and Indians Thirds.

Batting first, Luton were in trouble at 57 for four after just 15 overs, with Dan Roche taking three wickets.

Andrew Reuth took five for 38 to leave Luton in real trouble, however the last two wickets yielded a crucial 40 runs as the hosts were bowled out for 128.

Abbots started in similarly poor fashion, losing four wickets for just 17 runs.

Reuth and Matt Parkins were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Abbots were bowled out for a lowly 88.

Division Eight

Langleybury Thirds won by eight wickets at newly-promoted Allenburys between showers.

Batting first, the hosts were restricted to 139 for eight, with Andrew Cheeseman taking four wickets and Jim Carson chipping in with two for 23.

The visitors made light work of securing victory, both openers helping themselves to half-centuries as Langleybury raced to 142 from 27 overs for the loss of just two wickets.

Kings Langley’s clash at home to St Albans in Division One was one of a number that did get underway to be eventually lost to the weather.

Batting first, hosts Kings scored 44 for the loss of one wicket before the decision was taken to abandon the match 16 overs in.

Hemel Hempstead Town Seconds took to the field briefly against Met Police Bushey in Division Two, but also saw their game abandoned due to rain.

Batting first, hosts Bushey were on 63 for three when the weather got the better of the match after 16.2 overs.

Abbots Langley’s match at Old Owens was quickly lost to the weather too.

The hosts had scored one run from the opening two-and-a-half overs before the abandonment.

Bushey’s trip to Old Elizabethans in the Third Division was another to be abandoned.

Old Elizabethans scored 11 from the first over before the game was brought to a premature end.

In Division Eight, Met Police Bushey Seconds saw their game washed out at Letchworth Garden City Fourths.

Letchworth posted 59 for the loss of one wicket before the game was abandoned after 15.2 overs.
