Visitors to a spring fair were taken back in time to experience what life would have been like in a Victorian classroom.
Dozens of people turned out to celebrate Christ Church’s Victorian Spring Fair on Saturday where school desks and records dating back as far as the original Christ Church School gave a taste of what school life would have been like.
The original Christ Church School was built 170 years ago to the day on the site next door to the current church.
The Open Door Appeal has been set up with the intention of restoring the building to provide a community centre for older people.
At the fair, visitors were also entertained by singing from children of the current Christ Church School as well as the Community Choir.
There was also an array of arts and craft stalls, and it is anticipated the event will have raised £1,000 towards the work needed to complete the renovation project.
Members of the Open Door Appeal are appealing for former pupils of Christ Church to get in touch by either emailing opendoorappeal@hotmail.co.uk or calling Pat Blyth on 0208 441 6995.
