Middlesex will play at Old Merchant Taylors’ Cricket Club within the grounds of Merchant Taylors’ School for the first time ever this weekend.

On Sunday, Middlesex Panthers will take on Hampshire in their T20 match on the Old Merchant Taylors’ pitch before taking on Sussex in a Division One County Championship clash from Monday until Thursday.

Middlesex have played at Merchant Taylors’ School previously – in 2012 against Durham University and in second XI matches – but have never played on Old Merchant Taylors’ pitch.

Top of the Division One after six matches, Middlesex have been partly inspired by the form of Watford-born Steve Finn.

The 25-year-old former Parmiter’s School pupil is set to return to close to his home town in superb form and is currently the leading wicket-taker in Division One with 29 scalps so far.

Finn has thrived with Middlesex so far this season, twice claiming five-wicket hauls in the early stages of the campaign as he bids to play his way back into England contention after being released from England’s tour party to Australia during the winter.

Middlesex have not fared as well in the T20 thus far, losing both of their opening South Division matches against Essex and Sussex in a double-header last Saturday.

Visitors Hampshire also lost their T20 season opener to Glamorgan a week ago.

Tickets for Sunday’s T20 clash are available on the gate and are priced at £18 for adults and £5 for children. The game starts at 2.30pm.

The following day the County Championship match with Sussex gets underway at 11am, with tickets available on the gate once more and priced at £15/£5.
