Only three Championship clubs used more players during the course of last season, statistics released by the Football League have revealed.

The governing body have taken to social network site Twitter this lunchtime to release a number of tables relating to the 2013/14 campaign across all three divisions and one shows the Hornets lie equal fourth in the Championship alongside Blackpool for the most players used in the regular 46-game season with 38.

The two clubs are ‘beaten’ by Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City, who both used 39, while Millwall topped the Championship's total players used table with 40. Significantly though, the two clubs who used the fewest, 23, were both promoted – Burnley and Leicester City.

However, no club in the Championship came close to League One’s Carlisle United and Bury, of League Two, who both used 47 players last season.

Despite finishing 13th in the table, Watford were the joint sixth highest scoring team across all three divisions with 74 goals, finishing level with League One Coventry City, while Troy Deeney’s 24 strikes were enough to see him come equal third on the Football League’s scorers’ table.

Bristol City’s Sam Baldock and former Hornet Britt Assombalonga, who is now at Peterborough United, also netted 24 in the regular season, with Blackburn Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes (25) and Leeds United’s Ross McCormack (28).

And what do we have in common with all those teams? bottom half finishes! figure out an optimum starting 11 early into the season, and stick with it!

Also changing Managers doesn't help!

Never did like this rotation cobblers anyway. It's not the English way, if we're fit we want to play, look at Deeney .

The number of players used is almost directly proportional to desperation levels but affected also by resources. So, there was an element of BEING ABLE to use so many players too.

When will we learn which players are leaving? So far we have signed 3 players (plus 4 pro deals for the youngsters) with no official confirmation which players are leaving. I assume at least 10, possibly 15 players will be on their way. Would be good to find out soon who these players are.

Just goes to show how bad it must be for a coach having to shuffle a bad pack. Nani must share most of the blame for the rubbish in mixed with fewer good assets. Stay with us Troy! Enjoy your holidays cos you are now our best player.

A important message - continuity of selection wins games. I doubt that it fits in with the Pozzo's model.

Anyone interested in my prediction for next season? This is the highlight of many of your pre-seasons and this year I have decided that I shall share my thoughts with you all.
This season we shall end up.... 20th. Yes, you heard it here first,

I was gloriously wrong last year when I said we'd end up 6th so I wouldn't pay too much attention to me. I don't pay an awful lot of attention to myself anyway so I don't mind if no-one talks to me.

The coming season will be the same as last season. Nothing has changed yet apart from a couple of average signings (Tamas is a poor signing). I just haven't got faith in this guy that he has the total backing of the squad. I'd rather see a change now to a reputable Championship manager who knows the league and knows how to get out of it.
Mark my words we'll all back on here in September after an average start to the campaign calling for his head....been there, seen it, done it.
Give me thumbs down if you want but its what the majority are thinking.

Don't agree about the signings, Tamas apart, they are quality players. Tamas will be either excellent or a disaster. Their effectiveness will depend on the manager, as will the performance of the squad as a whole. The end of the season collapse does worry me, as up to then I felt Sannino was doing a decent job. Now---I don't know. Yes, maybe come the end of September we WILL be calling for a change. However, the Pozzos will be keeping a very close eye on the seasons start---poor performances during August/September will produce a rapid change, I am sure.
