Watford's Fiona McQuire won three gold medals in the Hertfordshire County AAA’s Championships at Woodside Stadium on Saturday.
The Dacorum & Tring athlete, 16, won her first gold in the Under-17 discus with a throw of 33.62m – well inside the qualifying distance for the English Schools Championships.
She followed that with gold in the triple jump, winning with her sixth and final jump with a distance of 10.35m. Victory gives McQuire both the indoor and outdoor Herts triple jump County titles for 2014.
The teenager’s afternoon was completed by winning the shot put with a distance of 11.28m using a new 3kg shot, thereby setting a new County record and claiming a second English Schools qualifying distance of the championships.
