Oxhey Village-based boxer Romeo Romaeo was forced to pull out of his latest fight after failing to make weight.

Romaeo, who is from Bristol and lives in Oxhey Village at the house of his promoter Mark Prior, was due to face Michael Ramabeletsa on Friday night on the Mickey Helliet show at the Camden Centre in Kings Cross.

However, the limit for a super featherweight contest is 59kg and Romaeo weighed in on the day at 62.4kg.

Romaeo had been ill a couple of weeks before the fight but had been confident he would be able to make the weight.

He claims to have suffered from constipation last week and on Saturday morning posted a picture of himself on scales which read 59.1kg, with the message: "Last night 62.4kg, this morning 59.1 after lots of food and going to loo."

Romaeo's promoter and manager Prior paid Ramabeletsa the fee he was due to receive for the fight.

Romaeo is set to feature next on a Frank Warren show at York Hall in Bethnal Green on July 16.

The 18-year-old has recently ended his working relationship with former trainer Spencer Oliver and is now working with Tunde Ajayi.
