Aidy Boothroyd signed long-term target Jobi McAnuff from Crystal Palace for an initial £1.75m.
The Watford manager enthused: "I have been after him for a long time. He is two-footed, can shoot, can cross, can make goals and can score goals."
McAnuff won the club's Goal of the Season award during his first campaign, but his Watford career was given new impetus by the arrival of Brendan Rodgers as manager in the autumn of 2008.
