Watford have announced their released list which confirms the pending departure of several experienced players including captain Manuel Almunia.

Fans' favourite Marco Cassetti confirmed he would be departing last month after two years at the club and the arrival of Tottenham Hotspur's Heurelho Gomes two weeks ago also signalled the end for Almunia.

The club's released list doesn't contain any surprises for Golden Boys fans.

Nyron Nosworthy, Fitz Hall, Lucas Neill, Albert Riera and Ross Jenkins will all leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.

Third choice goalkeeper Gary Woods will also be out of contract at the end of this month but Watford confirmed they "continue to have dialogue" with the player’s representatives.

Lloyd Doyley and Luke O'Nien, who were both due to be out of contract this summer, have already signed contract extensions.

Technical director Gian Luca Nani said: "Our thanks go to all the players whose contracts finish this summer. They have helped create some great moments over the last few years that everyone connected with the club will remember fondly.

"Nyron Nosworthy has been a fantastic professional, while Ross Jenkins has come through the club’s academy and made over 90 appearances for the first-team. Gary Woods has provided great competition to the goalkeepers at the club.

"Fitz Hall, Lucas Neill and Albert Riera have all assisted the squad with their experience at crucial times.

"Special mention should go to captain Manuel Almunia for his true professionalism and to Marco Cassetti for embracing the club after moving from Italy.

"We wish all the players every success for the future, both professionally and in their private lives."

The club's article included a footnote stating players who are listed as a ‘free agent’ on the Football League retained list are still free to re-sign with their previous clubs should they accept an offer.
