Division Ten

Chorleywood Thirds lost to Parkfield and Headstone Seconds by two wickets.

Asked to bat first, Wood posted 216 for seven before declaring.

Matt Hodson top-scored with a boundary-filled unbeaten 56, whilst opener Martin Tyler hit 54 to put Wood in command.

Left-arm seamer Graham Poole picked up three crucial wickets to help slow the visitors’ run-rate, whilst Steve Dunning held onto a catch to dismiss top-scorer Hussain.

The damage had been done by that stage and Parkfield eventually managed to secure victory by reaching 217 for eight.

Division 11 West

Northwood Town Thirds won at Rickmansworth Fourths by nine wickets.

The hosts lost the toss and were asked to field first.

Several dropped catches were made up for the by the fact Town were able to keep Rickmansworth’s run-rate down before the hosts were ultimately removed for 76.

Shailendra (38) and Bimal (35) both hit boundaries for fun for Northwood, chasing down the target with minimal fuss in 13.3 overs to secure the win.

Hemel Hempstead Fifths lost at home to Radlett Fifths by five wickets.

Batting first, tight Radlett bowling kept Hemel from scoring too freely.

Opener Chris Wright top-scored on 40 in two hours and middle-order Rob Shepherd managed 38 not out but in almost an hour as the visitors finished on 174 for six.

C Eve-Raw was the most effective Radlett bowler, taking three for 30.

In contrast, Radlett opener Martin Scott scored 75 in under two hours and in the middle order, Jon Grant managed a knock of 59 not out in half-an-hour.

Trevor Radcliffe took two for 44 for the hosts, who could not restrict the visitors’ flow.

In the end, Radlett scored 176 for five to win with ten overs to spare.

Langleybury Fourths were humbled at home by Mill Hill Village Fourths as they lost by ten wickets.

Down a man from the start and with a side containing two Under-13s – Robson Goss and Jack Cooper – expectations were not high for the hosts.

Winning the toss, Bury decided to bat on a good but slow wicket, struggling to get off to a good start after losing a wicket for a duck inside the opening over.

That pattern continued throughout the innings, with Langleybury all out for 59.

With no medium-pace bowling available to the captain, spinners were employed at both ends by the under-strength hosts.

Scott Dormordy was particularly unlucky to see a missed catch and stumping chance go begging.

Mill Hill cruised home with 12 overs bowled, without losing a wicket.

Division 12 West

Chorleywood Fourths beat Bushey Fourths at home by 66 runs to claim their second win of the season.

Batting first, Wood scored quickly before opting to declare on 174 for four.

Patrick Fullerton top-scored with 67 whilst skipper Simon Dare retired on 60.

Mick Rose (five for 49) then ran through the Bushey batting line-up, whilst Neil Hodson (three for 33) chipped in.

George Dare picked up the final wicket as the hosts were bowled out for 108.

Abbots Langley Fourths beat West Herts Fourths by four wickets.

Tom Ruxton Snr was the star for Abbots, taking a career-best six for 22. Assisted by Cameron Khan (two for 22), the pair helped dismiss West Herts for 110.

Debutant Daniel Knight (56) and James Hoskins (17 not out) were the mainstays in Abbots’ winning reply of 111 for six.

Kings Langley Fourths thrashed Rickmansworth Fourths by 121 runs.

Dave Barton scored 106 not out and shared a 108-run partnership with Sriram Panchanadeeswaran (51 not out), enabling Kings to declare on 196 for four.

Panchanadeeswaran (five for 35) and Luke O’Dell (three for 11) then took Ricky apart for just 75.

Watford Town Fourths won by seven wickets at Boxmoor Fourths to record their second win of the season.

Tight bowling from the visitors restricted Boxmoor to 118 all out.

John Peppett (three for 30) and Asif Khan (two for 22) were the stand-out bowlers for Watford.

Explosive batting from Grant East (43 not out) and John Crosdil (21) ensured Watford reached their target from 25 overs.

Watford Town Fifths chased down Leverstock Green Fourths’ modest total of 118 all out for a four-wicket win.

Graham Evans and Ellis Allan – with 22 each – joint top-scored for Green, for whom veteran Dave Cardy (three for 24) took three of the six wickets to fall.
