Watford have unveiled their new black and white away kit which is being used to help remember the 12 club's players who served their country in World War One.

The Hornets will be donating £1 from the sale of each second strip to the Royal British Legion, with adult shirts costing £40 and children’s £30.

It is 100 years since the Great War and it is also a century since Watford wore a black and white shirt for the first time.

The club have confirmed on their website they will be wearing the away kit for the home fixture which falls nearest to Remembrance Sunday in early November, with a Royal British Legion bucket collection and other commemorative activities also planned for this matchday.

Hornets chief executive Scott Duxbury told the club website: “We wanted to mark with significance the 100 year anniversary of the start of the First World War, as we were aware 12 of our former players served their country.

“Paying our respects by donating to The Royal British Legion, while replicating the 1914 kit as faithfully as possible, was an idea everyone here at the club supported from the start.”

Further to the home game and the £1 donation, Watford have already invited the Royal British Legion to have a presence at the in-store launch of the away kit at The Hornets Shop on Friday, June 20 (6pm).

The 12 Watford players who served in World War One, which took place between 1914 and 1918, were:
