George Catleugh was born in Horden, County Durham.

Having been part of the Nuneaton side that knocked Len Goulden's Watford out of the FA Cup in 1953, he signed for Goulden the following summer and spent 11 seasons as a popular right-half at Vicarage Road, making 327 appearances for six different managers including 41 during the 1958/59 promotion campaign.

Remember going to his testimonial in 63/64---against Arsenal, a top notch testimonial in those days---and he got a crowd of over 8000, a top notch crowd for a friendly. Still have the programme, somewhere.
