There was cause for a double celebration at The Grove as two of the resort’s golf coaches claimed top five placings in the Titleist PGA Assistant of the Year awards.

John Glenn, who finished fourth and was the highest placed male, and James Sibbles were both recognised for their achievements at the PGA’s annual graduation ceremony at the University of Birmingham.

In recognition of their efforts over the course of the three-year PGA foundation degree, Glenn was given a cheque for £1,250 and Sibbles £1,000 from sponsors Titleist.

Glenn had a double celebration of his own as he finished third in the coaching exams.

“It has been three years of hard work to get this,” he said. “I am very proud of finishing as the top male in the awards and also top of my region as there are a lot of talented PGA assistants out there.”

Amateur Watford golfer Mark Highfield has qualified for a regional final of the Audi Quattro Cup tournament this summer.

Highfield narrowly won the Spire Automotive Audi Invitational staged at The Centurion Golf Club in Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday, posting a score of 33 stableford points over 18 holes.
