Leicester City have released a heart-felt statement thanking new Watford signing Lloyd Dyer for his “professionalism and hard work” during his time at the Foxes.

It was confirmed yesterday evening that Dyer had rejected a one-year contract extension from the recently-promoted Premier League side in favour of signing a three-year deal at Watford.

The Foxes released a statement on their website saying: “Leicester City Football Club would like to place on record its thanks to Lloyd for his hard work and professionalism during his time in a Foxes shirt and for his considerable contribution to two promotions and the club’s return to the Premier League.

“We wish him and his family success in his new challenge at Vicarage Road.”

Dyer was one of only three players at the club who had helped them climb from League One to the Premier League in the last five years, with the other two being Andy King and Conrad Logan.

The 31-year old made 265 appearances for the club and scored 39 goals. Leicester’s statement said he “thrilled the King Power Stadium faithful with a string of outstanding performances from the left flank. “

It added: “He departs with the best wishes of everyone at Leicester City Football Club and will always be welcome at King Power Stadium as an opponent, a guest or a friend of the club.”

Now this is a step in the riggt direction. It is unusual for a club to make such a statement and it bodes well for WFC. Welcome to Watford Lloyd may you achieve great success here too.
