Hannah Kitchen finished in fourth place at the British Senior Elite Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships in Windsor.

The Rickmansworth based athlete faced off against 27 competitors and started strongly in the swim.

Kitchen had opened up a lead but a navigational error proved costly as Kimberly Bell took advantage and exited the water two seconds in front.

However, Kitchen managed to regain the lead on the transition and worked with Katie Synge to establish an early advantage.

The chasing pack eventually caught the duo and eight athletes went into the final transition together.

On the 10k run Emma Pallant was in top form and opened up a lead. Kitchen’s feet began to blister but she maintained her challenge and crossed the line in fifth place in a time of 2.09.00.

Pallant was ineligible for the British title as she is racing under the International Triathlon Union so Kitchen finished fourth in the UK’s standings.
