Corsham WI celebrated its 95th birthday at the town hall on June 17.

The sun shone, the hall was decorated with balloons, the guests arrived, there was a raffle with some handsome prizes and the cakes and sandwiches were delicious – Esmee Sidery made and decorated a beautiful cake – it seemed a shame to cut it, but everyone enjoyed it.

The WI was pleased to welcome visitors from other WI s in the Grace Methuen Group, and Jennie Coates and Margaret Mills from Wiltshire Federation.

Business was kept to a minimum. The president, Yvonne Hepburn, gave notice of the Annual Big Tea Party scheduled for July 29. The group’s next meeting is on July 15 at the new campus. Jane Gater on 01249 321148 or Pam Horton on 01225 811680 will be pleased to answer any queries if they can.

There is no meeting in August, but a mystery coach tour with lunch is planned. Details to follow.

The speaker was Sue Witt, owner of The Toy Box in Corsham with a delightful talk about her shop.
