Chorleywood moved up to fourth after a comfortable 93-run win at home to Flitwick on Saturday.

Wood started the game at the crease and racked up an imposing 255 all out to put themselves in control of the match.

Number three batsman Will Pendred top-scored with another stylish knock, before being dismissed for 85.

Andrew Dunning (58) joined in with his first half-century of the season whilst all of Wood’s batsmen reached double figures before they were finally all out in the 59th over.

It was equally a team effort with the ball as the wickets were shared around their attack, Flitwick were dismissed for just 162.

Lyndon Ryan was the pick of the bowlers as he took four for 43 from his 14 overs while Pendred continued his fine form with three for 40 after Dave Bushnell (two for 33) and Jonathan Rice (one for 30) had picked up early wickets.

Langleybury remain bottom of the table after they were held to a draw in their clash against Knebworth Park.

Bury lost the toss and were put into the field. The Knebworth batsmen didn’t welt in the hot conditions as they went on to score 295 for eight off 60 overs. Rhys Williams (five for 47) impressed with the ball.

Langleybury came out to bat needing around 5.5 an over. Mohammed Manzoor scored a quick 50 at the top of the order to get the innings off to a good start but with wickets falling, and tight bowling just before tea, Bury were in need of eight runs an over after the break.

Steady partnerships between, Richard Oxley (45) and Richard Soulsby (38) and then Nahim Amin (27) and Williams (29 not out) helped get Langleybury to their final score of 228 for seven which was enough to earn a share of the points.

Premier Division

Hemel Hempstead suffered their third defeat of the campaign after they were beaten by five wickets against North Mymms.

Hemel batted first and scored 269 for nine from their allotted 60 overs, their highest score in the league this season.

Jay O’Nien was the stand-out performer with the bat as he struck 73 while there were useful contributions from Gareth James (41), Brett Penny (39) and Adam Winchester (30).

Hamza Qayyum impressed with the ball for Mymms, ending on five for 25.

Mymms’ reply was led by Qayyum (60) and at the halfway point they looked on course at 135 for one.

Steve Reader (four for 83) did have some joy with the ball but wasn’t able to stop North Mymms securing victory.

Division One

Kings Langley sit bottom of the table but they were slightly unfortunate to only claim a draw against Shenley Village.

Kings batted first and ended on 260 for seven. Ricky Mohamed top-scored with 77 and other contributions came from Tom Sambrook (43), Brad Hughes (38 not out), Mark Brazier (32) and Duncan Fleming (21).

Shenley were reduced to 98 for six in their reply but a 67-run partnership for the seventh wicket saw them fight back and end on 202 for eight at the close of play.

Mohamed completed a good all-round display by taking three for 15, Mark Brazier claimed three for 57 and Ben Joyce ended with two for 41.

Division Two

A 75-run stand between skipper Dave Tyson (41) and Kris Jadeja (38 not out) proved crucial as Leverstock Green successfully chased down Hemel Hempstead Town Seconds’ 219 all out.

Once opener Lewis Koch (62) and Marc Simonds (38) had been removed, Green’s chances were diminishing at 135 for five. But the seventh-wicket duo repaired the innings’ frailties and allowed Levy to get home via four byes with eight balls remaining.

Earlier, Green seamer Adam Thomas bowled an excellent ten-over spell for just one wicket, leaving Brad Klosterman to weigh in with another five-wicket haul (five for 50) as Hemel’s scoring rate was always kept somewhat in check.

Now second by just one point, Green travel to league-leading St Margaretsbury tomorrow (Saturday) for what already looks like a key match at the summit of Division Two.

Abbots Langley had to settle for the winning draw despite dominating the majority of their game against Northwood.

Abbots batted first and posted a strong total of 213 for seven. Blesson Ghoghe played a patient 44 while Jim Davies added 30. Jack Read was the main contributor with 71 and Barry Warner chipped in with a quick-fire 30.

In reply, Northwood seemed to be going well and kept up with the run rate. However, Abbots remained in the hunt.

Steve Wallis, Warner and Nick Gurney all picked up scalps but when they lost their seventh wicket, Northwood unexpectedly shut up shop and played out an uneventful draw.
