Watford manager Steve Perryman resigned to take up the position of assistant manager to former teammate Osvaldo Ardiles at Tottenham Hotspur.
He was replaced four days later by Gillingham boss and former Watford centre-back Glenn Roeder, who appointed Kenny Jackett as his assistant.
This curtailed the brief Watford career of Phil Holder, brought in by Perryman to replace the departed Peter Taylor a month earlier.
The Watford Observer speculated that Perryman might return to Watford to sign left-back Jason Drysdale for his new employers. This never materialised.
