The Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva hosted the draw for the first round of the UEFA Cup that saw Watford's debut in European competition.

The Hornets were drawn to face German side 1.F.C. Kaiserslautern who had beaten Real Madrid 5-0 in the same competition the previous season on the way to the semi-finals.

I was there. I did not expect us to turn the tie around but we did at home. Stayed in Luxebourg with friends as it was cheaper than Germany. Oh those Graham Taylor years!
