Albert McClenaghan was born in Londonderry.

An imposing defender, McClenaghan was signed by Graham Taylor in November 1977 but only managed two senior appearances before returning to Larne.

The last of those, against Southport at Vicarage Road on the final day of the season, saw McCleanaghan's feet slip from under him as he attempted a throw-in, leaving him on his backside.

Sadly for Albert, it is for this incident that his Watford career is chiefly remembered, although many who appeared more frequently are admittedly scarcely remembered at all.
