Herts Cricket League

Division Four

Chorleywood Seconds held on to their final wicket to end with a hard-fought draw against Dunstable Seconds.

Dunstable batted first and set a total of 204 for seven from their 44 overs. That proved a too large total for Wood to chase down as they lost regular wickets.

However, they were able to mount a stubborn defence of their final wicket and held on to claim a share of the points.

Division Five

Dayle Littlejohn’s Leverstock Green Seconds have bowled first in all six of their Herts League matches this summer and won the lot – they cemented second spot at the weekend with a seven-wicket victory over Flitwick Seconds.

The visitors were skittled for just 63 with Imran Iqbal (five for 33) paving the way to success by removing the top five Flitwick batsmen.

Skipper Littlejohn picked up three wickets and Sam Roberts took two dismissals as reward for a parsimonious spell, before openers Ash Ali (28) and Iqbal (28) made light work of the target to help Green to a seven-wicket victory.

Division Six

Abbots Langley Seconds recorded their fourth win of the campaign as they defeated Northwood Seconds by four wickets.

Batting first, Northwood got off to a quick start and at 122 for three looked as if they would post a large total.

But young Under-15 county spinner Lewis Hodgins had other ideas. With a fantastic spell of bowling, he ran through the rest of the batting to finish with a personal best seven for 28. Andrew Rueth assisted with two for 14 and Northwood collapsed to 138 all out.

Abbots’ innings didn’t start off too well, losing four wickets for 65 but Jonny Battams (35) and Nikil Hirani (33 not out) steadied the side and took them to a deserved win.
