Three Rivers Young Blades youth fencing club bagged a gold medal at the Finchley Foil team event in Hendon.
The competition attracted entries from all over the south of England, including several from the top fencing clubs in London.
But the Young Blades’ Under-13s side comprising of Dan Darby, Phoebe Dolan, Amanda Mond and Kishan Sisodiya were able to battle through a long day’s fencing to clinch another gold medal to add to the one they won in the same venue in January.
Chairman of the Rickmansworth-based club, , Mike Ellis, said: "Our under-13 team is developing a reputation as the team to beat at this level.
“Although the standard of competition this time was much higher than earlier in the year they again managed to find a way to win against older and more experienced fencers.
“It was particularly gratifying to have this talented young group of fencers again win gold when two of them are in the younger age group for this event and we fielded a truly mixed team of two girls and two boys which was not the case for many of the other clubs present.
“Our club coach Dominique Szokolovics, who is the current British senior foil champion, has been working very hard with the team to improve their technique and stamina and it was great to see all their hard work pay off.”
