Langleybury's battle against the drop was given a boost by a 65-run win against Chorleywood on Saturday.

Good bowling from Chorleywood helped restrict the hosts to 59 for four, before Richard Soulsby (43) and Josh Godden (32) helped Langleybury close on 194 for nine.

Ross Channer tore into the away side, taking five for 27 in a productive spell as Chorleywood were removed for 129, Scott Aspinall scoring the bulk of the runs as he made 68.

West Herts were left to rue a poor display with the bat as they were beaten by 16 runs against league leaders Hertford.

The Stags won the toss and inserted Hertford into bat first.

It proved the right choice as Hertford were dismissed for a modest total of 158.

Aalok Jain was the stand-out bowler, finishing with figures of three for 25.

West Herts’ reply was agonisingly slow. They struggled to score regular runs with only captain Ian Gurney finding any fluency.

He reached 48 but ran out of partners as the Stags were dismissed for a disappointing 142.

Premier Division

An 87-run victory over Radlett means fourth-placed Hemel Hempstead have now beaten both of the top two this season.

Put into bat by their visitors, Hemel made an encouraging start through openers Hemish Ilangaratne (42) and Brett Penny (39).

Faisal Iqball added 30 at number ten to see the home side to a total of 222.

Radlett’s Matt Creese accounted for six Hemel wickets, conceding 61 runs.

Resistance from Creese (36 not out) late on was not enough and Radlett were already at 92 for seven by the time Creese came out to the middle.

Fraser Crawford had opened but his 31 was not supported by the middle order as Radlett slumped to 135 all out.

Penny (three for 33) and Steve Reader (two for 32) combined to remove Radlett in the 32nd over.

Division One

Kings Langley secured back-to-back wins and leapfrogged St Albans into sixth place after winning by 74 runs.

St Albans were bowled out for 110 in reply, with Christian James taking four for 38 and Mark Brazier claiming three for 33.
