Watford have rejected a £6.5m bid from Leicester City for striker Troy Deeney.
We understand the Foxes’ offer was turned down as it is considerably less than the club’s valuation of the player.
This follows Burnley’s bid at the beginning of July and previous enquiries from Swansea City and Norwich City. (Read more here)
The 26-year-old was signed by Malky Mackay in 2010 but struggled to secure a starting place in his favoured striking position during his first season at the club.
Deeney turned his Watford career around under the guidance of current Burnley boss Sean Dyche and excelled following the sale of Marvin Sordell in January 2012.
He scored 11 league goals during the 2011/2012 campaign but the following season went on to find the net 20 times in the Championship, alongside Matej Vydra, as the Hornets twice narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
The last campaign was Deeney’s most prolific. He netted 25 goals in 48 matches to become the first player since Luther Blissett to score 20 times in all competitions in consecutive seasons.
The Hornets have seen their enquiry for Leicester's Andy King rejected. Read more here.
