Division Six

Kings Langley Seconds claimed a one-wicket victory from the final ball of their local derby against Abbots Langley Seconds.

Abbots scored 188 for nine off their 53 overs. Mike Rueth reached 34, veteran Dave Carlisle added 30 while Mark Bishop (27) and Tom Carson (28) made useful contributions.

With the ball, Duanne Smith took five for 67 and there was a wicket each for Tom Clark, Richard Whitlock and Josh Oldham.

In reply, Nigel Barlow scored 42 and Mike Cooke notched 35 as Kings looked on course to chase down the runs.

They needed a run off the final two deliveries and Smith (29 not out) was able to guide his side to victory.

Andrew Rueth (three for 37) and Nikal Hirani (two for 34) were the pick of the Abbots bowlers.

Division Eight

It is now five games without a victory for Hemel Hempstead Fourths after they were beaten by five wickets against Met Police Bushey Seconds.

After being inserted by their opponents, Hemel struggled to a total of 170 all out. Mike Samuels (59) and Ben Dumpleton (28) were the only significant scorers.

Met Police chased down the runs with little trouble in 36 overs. Two for 32 from Rishi Shah was the best bowling return for Hemel.

Division Nine

Kings Langley Thirds maintained third spot in the table after they played out a draw against Little Berkhamsted Sahibs.

Langley bowled first but were unable to stop Berko posting a strong total of 239 for five from 46 overs. Scott Rolfe and Toby Henry both claimed two wickets for Kings.

With the bat, Logan Turner (80), Russell Knights (40) and Dave Barton (39) kept Kings in the hunt but they finished their overs on 219 for eight.

Excellent bowling and fielding, with Brett Baney’s six for 32 at the forefront, allowed Leverstock Green Thirds to turn 119 all out into a winning score against Sandridge Seconds.

A 30-point haul looked unlikely when, asked to bat first, Green found themselves 51 for seven. However, a great rebuilding job by Steve May, who hit 20, and number nine Karl Turner (44 not out) saw Levy to a total which ultimately proved too many for the visitors.

Abbots Langley Thirds played out a stalemate against North Mymms Thirds.

Batting first on a difficult wicket, Abbots posted a total of 144 for nine. Lee Rossiter ended with 31 while Jamie Denyer added 25.

Mymms didn’t find batting any easier as Paresh Solanki claimed four for 38 and Bob Russell’s two for 36 bowled economically. Abbots couldn’t force the win as North Mymms played out a draw on 122 for eight after 47 overs.

Division Ten

Chorleywood Thirds’ four-game winning streak came to an end as they were comfortably beaten by six wickets at home to Cockfosters Fourths.

After being asked to bat, Wood struggled from the start and were never able to build any substantial partnerships.

They were bowled out for only 124 with Charles Hardcastle (22) and Rohan Rua (21) the only batsmen who passed 20.

With the ball, Wood gave themselves early hope as they picked up four wickets to leave the visitors struggling.

However, once the Cockfosters batsmen had seen off Wood’s opening bowlers Nigel Tyler (two for 32) and David Harrigan (two for 42), they were able to coast to victory in the 32nd over.
