Watford are still waiting for international clearance for new signing Juan Carlos Paredes but head coach Beppe Sannino insists the player is fully fit heading into the start of the Championship season.

Paredes joined the Golden Boys on a five-year contract from fellow Pozzo-owned club Granada on July 16, subject to international clearance.

The 27-year-old defender has been training with the Hornets since the switch was agreed but has not featured in any pre-season matches.

At the weekend Watford confirmed they were still waiting for some documentation relating to his international clearance.

Sannino said: “He played at the World Cup so he doesn’t need a lot of training. He is fit.

“Once he has the clearance, he will be ready to play.”

The times of selling our best assets for peanuts are well and truly over!

Maybe we will...maybe we won't

Paredes looks like a quality addition to the squad and should
Probably get clearance! As a back up who would we use though, Doyley? I would love to see Bellerin return to compete but I don't see it happening

Hoban maybe. I think Beppe's going to give this 4-3-3 a go, particularly if Deeney leaves. You want to find a formation that gets your best players on the pitch but, well, let's wait and see.

they probably did the same last season, and you know what happened then eh.

Asides from me being a bit flippant, I would be surprised if we ended up in the top 6 this season. Just can't see it happening as there are stronger, tougher teams in this division who will outplay and outmuscle us. Mid-table is my prediction. Happy to be proved wrong though.

Big kisses

The return of Vydra, a fit again Abdi and Hoban, no major injury worries and hopefully Deeney to stay adds up to a successful season. Hopefully 2 years together in the championship has educated most of the imports.

I think we will do well this season if Abdi stays fit. For me he is absolutely crucial. Is anybody who has been to the pre-season games able to confirm that he looks to be back to his best?

I think we have far better cover this year with Keith Andrews, who always looked phenomenal for MK Dons (and yes I realise he was younger then and playing at a lower level so that maybe doesn't mean very much).

I'm cautiously optimistic.

You horns!

He looked the best on the pitch at Borehamwood In my opinion, really composed and got stuck in quite a bit which suggests his ankle (I think that was his injury) is healed fully . Agree with your comment by the way
