A former Kings Langley school pupil set a new personal best to win England’s first athletics medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Bethy Woodward, who used to attend Rudolph Steiner School, claimed silver in the T37/38 para-sport long jump with a distance of 4m, 39 centimetres behind Australian victor Jodi Elkington.

The 21-year-old, who finished fifth in the 100m at the 2010 Games in Delhi, won gold over 400m at the 2011 IPC World Championships before claiming 200m silver at the London Paralympics the following year.
