Watford their first win of the season and earned their first league points in the city of Liverpool with a win 1-0 win at Anfield thanks to a Tommy Mooney strike.
A display of furious intensity, coupled with a memorable performance from deputy goalkeeper Chris Day, won the day against a side that, as the travelling Hornets' songs indirectly observed, had had an awful lot of money spent on it that summer.
It would be two days short of 12 months before the Hornets won another game away from Vicarage Road.
