Watford scholar Ogo Obi netted twice for Manchester United - where he is on trial - as the Red Devils began their defence of the Milk Cup with an impressive 11-0 win against Australian side Gold Coast Academy.

United were in dominant form throughout the contest and Obi, who played the entire game, struck twice in the opening 45 minutes.

His first was a drilled strike into the roof of the net before he completed his brace with a close-range finish after Demetri Mitchell’s shot rebounded into his path.

The other goalscorers for the Red Devils were Mitchell (4), Marcus Rashford (2), Zac Dearnley, Travis Johnson and Jordan Thompson.

Obi has been on trial with the Red Devils this summer after Watford gave him permission to train with the Premier League outfit.

Manchester United XI: Henderson (Byrne 35); Reid (Warren 35), Williams (Borthwick-Jackson 35), Tuanzebe; Thompson, Scott, Gribben (Johnson 35), Rashford (Dearnley 47), Borg; Mitchell, Obi.
