Nigel Pearson says he will not comment on whether Leicester City will make another bid for Troy Deeney but the Foxes boss didn’t rule out strengthening his squad before the start of the Premier League season.

Leicester have had two offers for the Hornets captain rejected in the past, understood to be worth £6.5m and £7.5m.

We understand the Foxes have not ended their interest in Deeney and are planning to make another bid for the striker.

However, Leicester sources state the club will not become embroiled in a bidding war for the 26-year-old.

Swansea City, Burnley, Everton, Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City have been interested in Deeney in the past. Burnley have since ruled themselves out of the running.

When asked about the club’s interest in Deeney, Pearson told Sky Sports: “You can ask all you want but you’ll get no further comments from me until a deal is done or not done.

“It’s as simple as that. I do not comment on other team’s players and that is where we are at the moment.”

On whether he will add further signings to his squad, the Foxes boss continued: “I’m not ruling anything out, it’s always a case if you can add quality and improve the squad.

"I’m very pleased with the group of players we’ve got here and we have a number of players who have the capacity to make the transition from the Championship to the Premier League.

“I am really excited for them to show what they can do but we’ll have to wait and see if we do add to their squad or not.”
