Trabzonspor have the option to buy Essaid Belkalem from Watford for between £2m and £2.3m at the end of his loan spell with the Turkish club, the Watford Observer understand.

The Hornets have received a loan fee of around £400,000 for the centre back's year-long loan at Trabzonspor and they have the option to buy him at the end of his temporary deal.

However, the Golden Boys do have the final say over whether they want to keep the 25-year-old.

We reported on July 26 that Belkalem was set to join Trabzonspor and that was confirmed on Tuesday.

Belkalem will again be working with his ex-Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic, who took over Trabzonspor this summer after the World Cup.

The centre back was given extra time off by the Hornets after participating in the World Cup and didn’t rejoin the Watford squad for pre-season.

He only made seven starts and three substitute appearances during his first season at Vicarage Road after he arrived on loan from Granada last summer. That deal was then made permanent midway through last season.
