East Stand at Vicarage Road expected to be fully open by the end of September

Here is an initial design for the East Stand structure.

Here is an initial design for the East Stand structure.

The Golden Boys expect the whole of the new East Stand at Vicarage Road to be open by the end of September, the Watford Observer understands.

We understand the Hornets plan to have a part opening before, that with the first section almost complete, and the whole structure should be finished by the end of September.

The new stand will house around 3,400 fans and we believe it has cost the Pozzo family in excess of £3.5m.

Some people should probably stick to their own day job rather than trying to make out they're a structural engineer... My own thoughts are that the steel framework is pre-made to specifications. That part is the only 'bent' part of the back structure, which was probably designed that way and has been 'bent' since it was first installed. Some people seem to think they had issues putting it in so thought "s*d it, just bend the steel".

Unbelievable!

I can't believe the cretins on here and other forums going on about the 'bent' metal pillar, do they seriously think it wasn't designed like that?
Don't forget the old stand was adjacent to this new structure when first built, so using a very small amount of common sense isn't obvious that something was in the way eg, foundations from the old stand or something else that couldn't be moved at that time.
Anyway glad it will soon be completed , didn't think I'd see a stand there in my lifetime!!!

That particular steel is preformed that shape to avoid the electricity sub station which was too expensive and difficult to re-site. It's entirely intentional. You don't accidentally bend a steel like that.

There's only, i believe, 17 row, and around 200 seats per row. The rise between rows is also significantly larger than either the Rookery or Vic end which should make it somewhat more comfortable and give better sight lines to the pitch. That's the theory, anyway...

Fair play, having looked at the live feed photograph it does appear that the steel changes angle about a third of the way down to avoid the building below. Hopefully the stand won't topple backwards.

most important thing to me is that it shows the Pozzo's commitment to the club. If we don't go up this season, plenty will be on here saying 'oh they are gonna give up etc'. But they can't take their stand with them, and they wouldn't have built it if they had even the slightest thought of leaving.

If it wasn't for Elton we would have continued to be a nondescript lower league/conference club, and possibly wouldn't exist at all...

and money from his concert bought Troy Deeney who will help us get promotion/£10 million cash or both ... so I hope to see EJ at the promotion party, whenever that may be ..
